The ceremony was preceded by courtesy calls to both the Ag. Chief of protocol and Ag. Minister of international Affairs and Coorperation, Honourable Nonofo Molefhi respectively.
President Masisi welcomed Amb. Barbara to Botswana and noted that Uganda and Botswanas’ relations date way back since 1966, a foundation we should build on to advance our country’s interests.The President also appreciated its collaboration with Uganda on livestock management and disease control and pledged more support by his ministries to facilitate benchmarking programs to continuously identify areas of corporation.President Masisi then wished the High Commissioner a successful tour of duty and further invited her to frequently visit Botswana to familiarize herself with the countries beauty therein.Her Excellency Amb. Barbara Nekesa, relayed warm greetings from H.E Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to President Masisi and thanked him for granting her an opportunity to receive the letters of credence by which she is accredited to the Republic of Botswana as High Commissioner Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.The High Commissioner discussed with the President a number of issues for instance;- the need to industrialize our economies , strengthening the agricultural sector through focusing on Agro processing,
the need to share knowledge on mineral taxation policies, dual citizenship among others.
The High Commissioner was accompanied by Uganda’s Honorary Consul in Botswana, Dr. Okello Wengi and Ms. Charity Natukunda from Uganda High Commission-Pretoria.
