The High Commissioner thanked the DPM/ Minister of International Relations and Cooperation for having taken off time from her busy schedule to meet with her and her delegation.
The Ambassador informed that she was in the Namibia at the invitation of the Minister of Information and Communication Technology Hon.Dr Peya Mushelenga, for a Diplomatic Corps engagement on the the forthcoming World Press Freedom Conference to be hosted in Namibia.
She further informed that she felt it important to call on the Deputy Prime Minister to follow up on matters that had arisen during the Honourable' s last visit to Uganda in August 2019.
Among the issues was the proposed JCC between the two countries which was to be hosted by Namibia as well as the proposed MoUs and President Museveni 's request for MEATCO Abbatoir to venture into Uganda.
The High Commissioner briefed the DPM about the recently concluded January 14th general elections in the Uganda from which H.E Gen. Yoweri T.K. Museveni emerged winner.
She took opportunity to invite the DPM to the swearing in ceremony to be held in May 2021.
The DPM promised to consider the invitation.
Hon. Ndaitwa thanked the High Commissioner for the courtesy call. She observed that Covid-19 affected the proposed JCC between the two countries, suggesting that new dates can be put into consideration for a virtual meeting.
Further pointing out that if the JCC is not feasible now then Diplomatic consultations can be arranged.
Regarding the MEATCO request by H.E President Museveni, the DPM proposed that a meeting can be arranged for the High Commissioner to meet with the CEO of MEATCO.
Ambassador thanked the DPM for her proposals, requesting that the High Commission receives a formal Note on the proposed JCC and Diplomatic consultations, for onward transmission to Headquarters. She also agreed to the meeting with the CEO of MEATCO when she returns to Windhoek early next month for engagements with Ugandans.
The two principals extended their condolences to SADC, EAC, the people of the Republic of Tanzania and the Magufuli family upon the sad and unfortunate demise of H.E President Magufuli.
The High Commissioner, once again thanked the DPM for her time and the constructive proposals she had made about the matters under consideration.
The DPM wished the High Commissioner a safe journey back to Pretoria.
